About Me
The IB art program was established in 1989 to provide fine arts within the context of the IB curriculum. Ruth Fishman came to Richard Montgomery High School after teaching design at the University of Maryland and with extensive community involvement in the arts. She was hired to develop the program.
From its inception, the curriculum embraced creative thinking with the objective of affecting students who wish to pursue careers outside art.
During the course of the program's development, Ruth Fishman was the recipient of many awards for work at Richard Montgomery High School. She received two Fulbrights, the Lockeed Maritin Outstanding Art Educator award in 1997 and numerous fellowships at art institutes such as the Kansas City Art Institute and the Milwaukee Art Institute. She is currently a docent at the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden as well as the head of the IB art program at Richard Montgomery High School.
This website was created through the work of David Rymkiewicz and Ruth Fishman. And will be updated occassionally by Charlotte Kawa.
